Here's a step-by-step tutorial on how to clean and lube your motorcycle chain. I know there are a few different ways, and my moto jargon is probably not perfect, but this is pretty basic and something everyone should know how to do. Homemade 12V to 48V DC-DC Converter Battery Charger for Electric Scooter/Bike Tube. Duration : 6.07 Mins.
This is a PC board I made so I can charge a 48V seal lead acid battery from any 12VDC source. This design is simple and uses an off-the-shelf audio crossover coil. It charges my battery from a 12V source that gets switched on once the sun goes down. In the morning my batteries are ready to go and it didn't cost me anything. Energy from the sun. However I can use with and 12V source that can provide 2-3 amps of power. There is a special circuit that will stop the SMPS once the battery level low around 11 volts. Next day the sun comes up and charges the 12V battery.

This is a simple video demonstrating the best method to detect vacuum leaks around your carb boots. Vacuum leaks are a fairly common problem in older bikes, and luckily they can usually be remedied quickly and easily, the first step however is diagnosis. If your bike is running rough, won't rev up or has an irregular idle, before you take off the carbs and open them up, check for vacuum leaks. A vacuum leak occurs when too much air is introduced into the combustion chamber via a failure in one or more of the carburetor boots or other rubber mating surface. When too much air is sucked in, then the bike cannot combust the gasoline efficiently; there must be an optimal ratio. Therefore it is up to you to detect these leaks, and either plug them up or replace the carb boots. In this particular bike, the engine was running VERY lean. Not only did we have vacuum leaks, but the baffles were taken out of the engine, and the previous owner had removed the air filter and neglected to install a new one. This is not only dangerous by allowing foreign material to enter the engine, but it also makes the engine run much hotter, as lean explosions create more heat than regular ones (think about blowing on a fire in your fire place: more air, hotter fire). This can be detrimental to a variety of parts in the engine, and it is a good thing we didn't ride this bike around too much before finding the problem. I have removed the petrol tank to access the fuel supply and have repaired some of the faulty wiring which probably was the cause of this superbikes demise. I am now going to completely strip the bike down and restore her to her former glory.

www.progressivesuspension.com Skeefoo recently bought a KLR650, and when he came for a visit we decided to install one of the extra sets of forks springs I received from Progressive Suspension. They are super easy to install, just take off the cap, pull the old spring and spacer out. Cut the spacer in half, and drop everything back down the hole. Do one side at a time and you won't even need to put the bike up on blocks. After testing out the difference between stock and the aftermarket springs we came to the conclusion that they feel very similar. Because a large portion of the aftermarket spring is exactly like the stock spring. The aftermarket spring begins to work it's magic when you are really hitting some heavy bumps, and compress the spring to that final bit which saves you from bottoming out. Upgrading the KLR's suspension is one of the first things people do to their bike. If your gonna spend a few months living out of your bike you should probably do everything you can to make it as comfortable as possible.

**Always follow the instructions in your repair manual when doing repair or maintenance work on a motorcycle. Manuals can be found at the dealer and online.** This video is about inspecting and adjusting the final drive belt on a Harley Davidson Road Glide. I used a tool called a Belt Tension Gauge, and it is important to transfer the force required to compress the gauge to the drive belt. It might appear that I am not doing that in the video, but I am. I had to hold the tool the way I did to prevent it from falling over. Harley Davidson sells the Belt Tension Gauge or you can find an aftermarket version of the same thing online. I think 10 lbs is pretty standard for checking the deflection on belt final drives, but check your owners manual. The Belt Tension Gauge originally had support arms on the part that made contact with the belt, and it looked similar to a football goal post. I had to cut them off because the tool would not fit between the plastic shield that covers the final drive belt. Its ok if you cut them off, just make sure you center the gauge on the belt before applying pressure. Belts are my favorite type of final drive on a motorcycle because it lasts longer than a chain, is quieter than a chain, requires less maintenance than a chain and is more efficient than a drive shaft. The rear cassette gears cut into the aluminum free hub, I suspect too many interval sprints with "The Android", "Flyin' Ryan", and The Hammer. I purchased the tools from Performance Bike and the free hub from BikeIsland.com. I'm not a professional bicycle mechanic so follow this video at your own risk!
